A new start, again!

Well what a long time since posting here (as usual!) Sister from NZ has been and gone, the garden is surviving the heat and drought, and the piece of editing work is done and paid for.

I'm feeling much better about Janet and will go and see her shortly. I haven't seen her around - maybe she's away.

A new thing to consider

Had a great meeting with Jake and Patricia. I can't help having plans for them: it makes Jake very cross and I know it's wrong of me. I so want each of them to be happy!

Strange new information about Janet. I need time to think about it. It's still lovely to walk with her and her little dog, especialy now it's not so windy. I need to find out more about the histry of this area - someone said that Kingly Vale had the graves of Vikings... intriguing

A long gap

How the time passes? Have seen Patricia recently, with some issue about her data. Jake came in at the same time - it was good to see them chatting. They go back a long way.

Have had more conversations with Janet - a lot to think about there.

A little brighter

A long time it seems since I've written here. Saw Jake recently and he seems brighter - that's such a relief. He's moving to Brighton somewhere, still interested in UFOs. I hope he'll keep up with his furniture making, if he ever has time. Those greenwood pieces look so good.

But anyway this is meant to be about me in my new life, not Jake.

I've taken the break I promised myself; I've moved to a place I really like; now what? I need to do more than just pass the time. Something worthwhile to do - that's what I need next.

A walk on the Downs

Yesterday I had a good walk with Janet and her dog. We went up on to the Downs, towards Kingley Vale. She began to look a bit anxious and the dog behaved weirdly, so we turned back, and had a cup of tea and some cakes in the pub at West Stoke. I asked her about Kingley Vale, whether it was the yews that put her off, but she changed the subject. It is an unusual place, and the trees are supposed to be fantastically old - they're certainly developed into all kinds of alien shapes.

A place to start off

Well I finally have a blog in my own name. Thanks to my friend Jh, I've got over my nerves and am on my way. My aim is to record my travels here in West Sussex, following Jake, his friends and others, looking at the many fascinating ancient sites around here.

I wonder if anyone will read this - there are so many blogs out there. I suppose I'd better tell my friends - maybe!!

And I'll want to be talking about my new little dog - a terrier - that I'm picking up tomorrow. I hope others who have a terrier will comment here.

And about a new friend J who also has a dog - an interesting person. Obviously I won't talk much about her - I wouldn't want her talking about me - but just to keep a record of our friendship. She's new to the area, so it's going to be fun showing her this lovely place - I've only been here a year or so, and have been too busy getting used to the change from living in London to a country village. Getting used to early retirement too is quite a challenge as well. Although I'm pleased to be out of that toxic hellhole they call .... well perhaps no names.
